JOB DESCRIPTION

The Senior RF Test EngineerThe Senior RF Test Engineer will report into the Product/Test/Operations Department. The individual will work closely with design engineering to develop and manage the automated test capability for product characterization and production testing.

This person will be responsible for leading the development of all production and characterization electrical test activities at SMI. He/She will develop Test programs using both in-house facilities and external test contract services. He/She will be responsible for selecting test platforms and features required for testing, characterizing and analyzing the devices.

This person will develop automated testing for IC and module designs involving both RF and digital I/O signals and controls. The candidate will transition the test capabilities to outside contract services where required for volume production capacity. Experience with RF and mixed signal module and IC testing in silicon/CMOS and/or GaAs technologies is required. Knowledge of ATE (Automated Test Equipment) and the use of test databases is required. He/She should also be familiar with RFIC functionality, semiconductor device analysis and modeling, and be able to work with the IC and module electrical design engineers.

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Selection of ATE test platforms and outside contract services for test development and/or production
  • Development of automated test routines and data analysis tools for RF/mixed signal IC devices
  • Design of test sets using RF signal generators, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, RF power meters, and RF noise figure instruments (includes load board and PCB design specification)
  • Wafer probe testing of RFIC circuits and test blocks, including Probecard and interface design
  • The position will require travel to off-site test subcontractors, including locations in Asia

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Minimum BSEE, MSEE preferred
  • Qualifications: 5-10 years experience in the development of RF test sets and automated test routines. Experience with RF and mixed signal test instrumentation and ATE. Experience with wafer probe stations for RF probing is a plus
  • Skills: Working knowledge of commercial test automation control software tools like HP VEE, National Instruments Lab View, or equivalent
